After doing an internet search, it seems this is caused by too much chlorine, fluoride, salt or plant food. Usually when a leaf tip turns brown, it's because it didn't receive its share of moisture while the rest of the leaf did… or excess salts have migrated to the leaf. Secondly, randomly introducing or removing fertilizers can shock or chemically burn the plant (turning it yellow or brown), if the fertilizers were introduced after the plant and i recently noticed that the new bottom leaves are a pail yellow and are droopy. I think it is dracaena fragrans.
