Mine turn reddish brown every spring when i take them out, and then they go back to green.

If your aloe's leaves are softening, wilting or turning brown and mushy, check the bottom of the plant's pot for ample drain holes. Sunburn will make aloe vera leaves turn dry and brown. The more sun exposure they get, the more compact the plant will be.
